Top pulmonologist recommends booster shots to fight Covid
Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza recommends that people should get boosters shots in our fight against Coronavirus disease (Covid).
This was the statement of the doctor during a radio interview on July 19, 2022 over Open Forum radio program, hosted by Dave Albarado.
He said that the immune response declines over time because the body is no longer producing enough antibodies to readily repel any Covid virus invasion.
The doctor said that the booster shot helps the body to have a ready supply of antibodies ready to defend against complications arising from the infection caused by the SARSCoV2 virus. The SARSCoV2 is the virus that causes Covid.
He explained that people who have already been fully vaccinated have still to get booster shots enough to defend against Covid infection due to the presence of memory cells.
The memory cells remember the characteristics of a SARSCoV2 virus and will be able to produce antibodies, although a bit slower compared to a person who had a booster shot, the doctor explained.
Cepedoza said that fully vaccinated people who received a booster shot are less likely to transmit the SARSCoV2 virus because these people do not produce a huge number
of virus unlike an unvaccinated person.
