Abandoned by her family, Kya (Daisy Edgar-Jones) lives all by herself in the wilds learning how to survive from the land and the creatures around her. Shunned by the townsfolk because of her being an oddity, she is isolated from her community and stays away from people most of the time. When a man is found dead, Kya is the suspect and tried for murder. As the case unfolds, the verdict becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh. In case you didn’t know, a crawdad is a colloquial name for a crayfish, a freshwater crustacean related to the lobster. Despite its name, it’s not actually a fish, nor a shrimp. We call it “takla” here in Bohol where they thrive in mangroves, or marshes with brackish water. Crawdads don’t exactly sing, but they can produce sounds through a thin appendage that draws water and air through their gills.

“Avatar” Re-showing at Screenville Cinemas
Visionary filmmaker and Academy Award winning director of “Titanic” and “Terminator”, James Cameron, is bringing back his topgrossing 2009 blockbuster film, “Avatar”, to movie theaters worldwide, including Screenville Cinemas at Island City Mall and Alturas Mall, starting on Wednesday, September 21.
Director Cameron told the world press the latest version of “Avatar” is remastered in stunning 4K High Dynamic Range format which is looking better than before, especially the visual effects which are even more realistic. Asked about why he chose to bring back “Avatar” on the big screen, he said the aim is to reach out to a younger audience who didn’t get a chance to experience the world of Pandora back then. Even if they already saw the movie on streaming sites, TV channels, and Blu-Ray DVD, they still haven’t really seen the movie the way it’s intended it to be seen.
The re-release of “Avatar” is also a move to prime moviegoers for its sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, which will premiere on December 16, this year. Upon its release in 2009, “Avatar” became the highest grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and won three Oscars, for Best Cinematography, Production Design and Visual Effects. Set in the year 2154, “Avatar” explored how humans establish a colony on a fictional moon called Pandora, populated by lush green forests, huge beasts and its native community Na’vi. Jake (Sam Worthington) is a paraplegic US Marine transported to Pandora on a military mission, but rebels against the human forces to protect the world he feels is his home.
“AVATAR” will return to movie theaters starting on Wednesday, September 21, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
