This edition of VOX POPULI is featuring the netizens’
reactions, responses and comments to a QUESTION posted
on the facebook wall of the managing editor of The Bohol
Tribune.
The question is: “UNSA KAHA ANG HIINUNGDAN NGA
ATUA MAN GAWAS SA PILIPINAS GUSTONG
MUTRABAHO ANG ATONG MGA HEALTH WORKERS
SAMA SA MGA NURSES?

from Benjie Oliva: Dili patas ang government
compensation/salary policy sa Pilipinas. Lahi ang LGU, NGAs ug
GOCCs. Unya per profession kanya kanya sab ug lobby ug
magna carta.
including benefits.
from Maria Beth Montuya-Yap: Lisod ma’am sweldo sa nurse
sa ato barato kaayo , it’s a known fact . Like me others worked sa
laing nasod Kay better and benefits and compensation. These
has been an issue since the 70’s government knows about it and
ignored the issue.
from Rudy L. Inting to Maria Beth Montuya-Yap: It’s always
easy to blame the government. But it was the people who put the
government where they are. You mentioned the 1970s. That
decade, South Korea was at the bottom of the East Asia. But their
people rallied together. They pleaded with the American and
European governments to invest and create jobs in their country.
Lots of Koreans working abroad sent money, not only to their
families, but to their government. They wept when their
countrymen hunger and thirst. What about us? When was the last
time we wept in behalf of our country’s suffering?
from Maria Beth Montuya-Yap to Rudy L. Inting: Point taken,
Kanya Kanya.
from Elvie AraSol: Taas sweldo abroad.
from Che Satorre Acierto: The grass is greener in other
countries.

from Marvee Anthony Sumaylo: Wala gi value og tarong diri ag
mga health workers.
from Lyn Vix to Marvee Anthony Sumaylo: Korek
from R Myra A Cook: Many of us work abroad so we can help
our families back home. Not just nurses but also Seamen,
Domestic Workers, Construction workers and all other forms of
employment. Being a nurse I am honest to say my pay is better,
benefits are good, and we work in hospitals where the equipment
and medical supplies are the best. I do not blame anybody but
thankful I made it working abroad with God’s help and self
determination as it is not easy working abroad.
from Marlene Gallo Estorosas: Hasta pod teachers.
from Alma Bunachita Penales: Good morning mam kay dagko
from Alma Bunachita Penales: Hinaut atong governo
sweldo dili unta palabi an ug pangurakot.
from Alma Bunachita Penales: Kay ug daghan kurakot pordoy
from Alma Bunachita Penales: Puro nalang celphone dili na
mag pray GIKALIMTAN NA ANG GINOO NATO CGURO MAM
HUHUHU DIOS KO TABANGI MI
from Judith Bomediano: Greener pastures?
from Zita Tumampos Viscayda: Dako man sweldo ma’am
from Virna Judith Marie: Mas daku mn ang sweldo ddto
compare dire sa ato, Mam Ardz
from Rain FostanesCalimbayan: Dako sweldo sa abroad ako
mga paugmangkon tua sa US and UK nag Nurse
from Maxima Ancog: Dako man god ang suweldo didto sa laing
nasod.

from Bernadette Tetangco: Tungud sa way pagtagad sa
ug kanunay delayed unsaun pagsurvive intawun…problema mn
gud daghan nkaingun ug dagko clag sweldo ky tiaw bay nurse dri
pero ug sa abroad cla mudung they are highly recognized with
amazing wages and benifits nga bisag unsaon dili makuha dris
atua…very sad reality.
from Estiphany Baja Macas – Cafee: Mas daghan ug benefits
from Betty Jumawid: Gusto sla abroad ky high salary n seek
greener pastures. Not only nurses also teachers n engineers.
from Dr. Ria Maslog:

  1. Better opportunities for our nurse’s abroad because of higher
    salaries
  2. Their family life will improve because of number 1
  3. For the future of their children in terms of financial security
from Nette Batingal Chavez: Mas mataas po sweldo sa abroad
and working wise mas ok din doon gawas
    from Jervie Empe:
  4. Better pay and benefits: Many Filipino health workers are
attracted to working abroad because of the higher salaries and
better benefits they can receive compared to what they can earn
    in the Philippines.
  5. Lack of opportunities and support: The healthcare system in
the Philippines faces many challenges, including a shortage of
resources, inadequate infrastructure, and limited opportunities for
professional development and advancement. These factors can
make it difficult for Filipino health workers to advance in their
    careers and achieve their goals.
  6. Political instability and security concerns: The Philippines has
experienced political instability and security concerns in recent
years, which can make it difficult for health workers to feel safe
    and secure in their work.
  7. Family obligations: Many Filipino health workers are
breadwinners for their families and may be motivated to seek
higher-paying jobs abroad in order to provide for their loved ones.
  8. Cultural and linguistic factors: Many Filipino health workers are
fluent in English and are trained in Western medical practices,

making it easier for them to work in English-speaking countries
and adapt to foreign healthcare systems.
from Argie Gonzaga Astronomo: Better opportunity, privileges
offered and compensation is high for Nurses profession or health
workers.
from Theresa Virtucio Abella: Dakô sweldo.
from Ene W Sato: Prone & vulnerable jud silang ma pirata
Ma’am Ardy Ines Araneta Batoy ky saon dagko man silag
mabahen sa gold treasures didto.
from Noel Suacillo: Barat man kaayo sweldo pinas, ang sweldo
from Mary Ann Garcia Palgan: Gamay ra ang sweldo sa pinas
unya less chance maregular labi n kron nga devolve to LGUs na
unya ang LGU walay kakayahan mohire ug health personnel.
from Gervasio Lopena: Maayo unta ug mahimong balaod tong
from Connie Arboleras to Gervasio Lopena: Gamay ra gani na
kaayo jud.
from Gervasio Lopena to Connie Arboleras: Maayo na lang na
kay sa karon nga suholan.
from Jocelyn Cantones: Ma’s taas ang salary didto.
from Mary Rose Molina Edubas: Underpaid.
from Juvenal Digal Beniga: Maam ards dili patas ang sweldo sa
pinas labina ming mga retirees walay inctrease unya ang among
pension fund gi planobhan napod kuhaan sa maharlika
investment fund huhuhu pagka looy tawon.
from Gloria Leodivica Ines Araneta: Workers are well
compensated.
from Connie Arboleras: Gamay ra kaayo ang sweldo diri sa
pinas hago pa jud kayo.
from Demi L. Pe: Mam, ako ra lagi loyal, natigulang nalang
hehe… Kidding aside, yes, the salary is very high compared to

ours here. Facilities are high tech and if you work overtime, there
is a corresponding fee unlike here thank you.
from Roy Seni: Their pay can support their family well..
from Indotte Gallego-Dabalos: Dako sweldo ma’am Ardy Ines
Araneta Batoy.
