Jeju Air, the largest low-cost carrier in South Korea, has expanded its network in the
Philippines by launching a new direct flight from Busan, the second-largest city in
South Korea, to Bohol, a popular tourist destination in the Philippines.
The airline’s maiden flight from Busan to Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA)
arrived on October 30, 2023 at 12:21 a.m., carrying 131 passengers and six crew
members. The flight was welcomed by a water cannon salute, a traditional gesture to
celebrate the opening of a new route.
The inaugural flight was also attended by airport officials led by terminal supervisor
Frank Tayag and representatives from partner agencies who ensured the smooth
arrival and departure of the passengers.
According to Jeju Air, the new route will operate daily, offering more convenience
and flexibility for travelers who want to visit Bohol, an island province known for its
natural attractions such as the Chocolate Hills, the Loboc River, and the Tarsier
Sanctuary.
The airline will also continue to operate its existing flights from Incheon, the main
international airport in South Korea, to Bohol twice a day.
Jeju Air said that it hopes to boost tourism and economic exchange between South
Korea and the Philippines by providing more affordable and accessible flights to both
countries.
