The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dampas and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Assessment Division have been identified as the most corrupt agencies in Bohol, according to the 2024 Bohol Poll Survey conducted by the Holy Name University Research Center and Publications.
The survey was publicly presented on May 3 at the Holy Name University media center in Tagbilaran City. The survey period ran from March 23 to April 22, 2024, with a total sample size of 400 adult respondents from across Bohol. Each district had 100 respondents, including Tagbilaran City, which is part of District 1.
The LTO Dampas and BIR Assessment Division were found to have a province-wide incidence of 0.0717% among government offices where employees were alleged to have asked for bribe money, grease money, or kickbacks.
On the other hand, the Mayor’s Office in Tagbilaran City was identified as the top government office that Boholanos are satisfied with. The 2024 Bohol Poll Survey revealed that the Mayor’s Office in Tagbilaran City received the highest satisfaction rating of 4.27%.
This was followed by the DSWD Office near LTO Tagbilaran City with 3.52%, Treasurer’s Office in Trinidad, Bohol with 3.01%, Local Civil Registry Office in Tagbilaran City with 2.88%, GSIS Office in Tagbilaran City and DSWD Office Capitol both with 2.73%, Treasurer’s Office in Baclayon with 2.35%, and Waterworks in Tubigon also with 2.35%.
The survey also revealed that 22% of Boholanos have visited a government office in the past six months.
POOR RATING IN FIGHT VS DRUGS AND CRIME
Despite numerous arrests and the seizure of millions worth of shabu, the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), led by Provincial Director PCol. Lorenzo Batuan, has seen a decline in its performance rating this year, according to the Bohol Poll Survey 2024.
The survey, conducted by the Holy Name University Research and Publications, included the performance rating of the Bohol PPO in combating illegal drugs and crime, as well as trust ratings.
The Bohol Poll 2024 survey was conducted from March 23 to April 22, 2024, with a total sample size of 400 adult representatives from all over Bohol.
A majority of 57% of Boholanos expressed satisfaction with the Bohol PPO’s performance in combating illegal drugs, while 20% were dissatisfied and 20% were undecided. This resulted in a net performance rating of +37.
The Bohol PPO received a performance rating of +44 in District 3, the lowest being +5 in Tagbilaran, +37 in District 2, and +32 in District 1 in the campaign against illegal drugs. The rating for the Bohol PPO was +67 among those aged 18-24 and +46 in the class E economic class.
The +37 rating in 2024 represents a drop of 23 points compared to the +60 in 2023, the +61 rating in 2022, and the highest rating of +73 in 2019.
Meanwhile, in combating crime such as Robbery, Theft, Murder, and Homicide in Bohol, the Bohol PPO received a +49 rating. This is a 14-point drop from the +63 rating in 2023 and 2022, and a high rating of +78 in 2019.
Also included in the Bohol Poll survey this year is the Trust Rating of Bohol PPO.
Bohol PPO received a +55 rating in their trust rating, a seven-point drop from the +62 rating in 2023, the +56 rating in 2022, and the +61 rating in 2019.
