Tubigon Mayor William Jao (inset, upper left corner) said: “Tubigon Shines as Bohol’s Champion for Marine Protection (via MENRO IEC Team news).” Indeed, the municipality of Tubigon has solidified its place as a leader in environmental conservation, earning the prestigious title of Best Supportive LGU on Marine Protected Area during the recent awarding ceremony for the Most Outstanding Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Most Outstanding Coastal Law Enforcement Council (CLEC) on December 10, 2024 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Provincial Capitol. Adding to its list of accolades, Tubigon was also recognized as the 7th Place awardee in the Best Practices for Ecological Solid Waste Management and Most Consistent LGU on Waste Diversion last year, 2023. These achievements signify Tubigon’s rising prominence as a champion of environmental protection across multiple fronts. This recognition highlights Tubigon’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its marine ecosystems, a vital lifeline for both the environment and local livelihoods. Junjie Geronimo (extreme left), head of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), accepted the award on behalf of the Local Government Unit (LGU). Geronimo also presented the significant accomplishments of Coastal Law Enforcement Council (CLEC) 3, which Tubigon chairs alongside the neighboring municipalities of Clarin, Inabanga, and Buenavista. “This recognition is a testament to our collective efforts in protecting and preserving our marine resources.
