WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

The wicked thrive when left unchecked. Evil proliferates when good is nowhere to counter it.

The concept of the battle between good and evil is as old as time itself. Ancient philosophies and schools of thought anchor their beliefs on a delicate balance that reins in chaos. Upset this and hell breaks loose.

Yin and Yang, positive and negative, good and bad, define our actions. These forces exist to counter each other and maintain balance to prevent discord.

Thus when good men do nothing, we allow evil to thrive. History has shown us glaring examples of how men lose themselves in power to do things normal people don’t.

Absolute power corrupts and we have seen the rise of great dictators only to see them fall over time.

In politics we choose and elect those to guide and lead us. What may start as laden with noble intentions could end disastrously making our lives more miserable.

When our weaknesses get the better of us and we succumb to the temptations of greed, we lose sight of our lofty aspirations and goals.

In our state of affairs of governance, it is important that check and balance exist. Without it leaders can be misled and go astray. What happens when those who we put our trust to steer the ship get lost?

When we put our fate in the hands of those we vote into office, so much is given and expected in return. The people’s mandate is a covenant of trust that must be diligently fulfilled.

Fail this and you betray your people. Betrayal of public trust is a great offense that insults the people’s confidence.

Running for public office may seem simple and easy, but if you take it to heart it is full of great responsibilities. It should not be taken lightly and for granted.

With great power comes an even greater responsibility and accountability to the people you swore an oath to serve !
