A gangster twin returns to their hometown only to be faced with an evil force in Ryan Coogler’s supernatural thriller, “Sinners”, now showing at  Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall.  

              Set in 1932, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, notorious local twin brothers Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan) are trying to leave their troubled lives behind after working for famous American mobster Al Capone for many years in Chicago. As they return home to start again, they discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

        One night during a juke joint’s opening party, their cousin performs a mind-blowing song so powerful that it transcends space and time, and catches the attention of the red-eyed fanged vamp Remmick (Jack O’Connell) and his fellow bloodsucking Irish musicians who want invites to the party. As Samuel plays his guitar and sings, dancers and singers, are turning into vampires, while the rest fight for survival over one very bloody night.

A sequel to Ben Affleck’s 2016 sleeper hit, “The Accountant”, which grossed $155 million worldwide, “The Accountant 2” will premiere worldwide on Friday, April 25, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.  

          In the first film, Christian Wolff (Affleck-“Armageddon”) is an autistic CPA with a genius for numbers acting as a financial adviser and forensic accountant for world’s most dangerous criminal organizations; the reason why he is pursued by Treasury agents, while also learning that a hitman on his trail turns out to be his long-estranged brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal-“Sicario”).

           The sequel now brings back the highly lethal brothers reuniting to investigate the mysterious death of Treasury Director Ray King, an old acquaintance of Wolff. Together with US Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried. They also find themselves dealing with both a human trafficking ring and a new deadly assassin.  

“THE ACCOUNTANT 2” will premiere worldwide on Friday, April 25, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.  

Plaza Marcela marks  28th Anniversary 

One of the city’s premiere shopping centers, Plaza Marcela turned 28 yesterday, April 19, Black Saturday; and will just celebrate the occasion   tomorrow, Monday, April 21, with an anniversary mass at 6 am at the basement carpark, followed by a motorcade along the city’s thoroughfares at 8 am.     

       From 9 am to 3 pm on the same day, Plaza Marcela offers anniversary treats w/ free haircut, manicure, pedicure, and foot spa. At 3 PM, is the Bingo Bonanza where prizes for the 3 games are P2,000 for Game 1; P3,000 for Game 2; and P5,000 for Game 3.            

        Also happening today at 3 pm, at the lobby of Plaza Marcela is the raffle draw of Plaza Marcela “Rewards Card” Anniversary Promo where            ten (10) lucky customers will win grocery packs worth P5,000 each, while another ten (10) customers will also get Alturas gift certificates worth P5,000 each. 

        There will be another set of ten (10) winners of 25-kilo sack of rice which will be also announced during the raffle draw this afternoon. All the winners will be announced both in the mainstream and social media. They will also be notified via MMS or phone call.    

        To claim the prize, the winner must present two valid government-issued IDs with photocopies to the Corporate Marketing Office, located at the Upper Ground of Alturas Corporate Center, at the North Wing of Island City Mall.

The Don Petok LIVE is presented by the LGU of Corella through Mayor Manju Lim and congressional aspirant Baba Yap. Admission is free.
