This edition of VOX POPULI is featuring the netizens’ reactions, responses and comments to the statement posted on the FB wall of the Managing Editor of The Bohol Tribune.

The statement is: Uyon ka ba nga ibalik susama kaniadto ang number of years sa pag eskwela – nga sa elementary Grade 1 – 6; sa high school First Year to Fourth Year ug paghuman sa fourth year derecho ang estudyante sa College Course? Ngano man?

(Do you agree that the number of years of schooling should be the same as before – that is, 6 years for elementary from Grade 1 to 6; 4 years for high school from First Year to Fourth Year, and then straight to a College Course after fourth year high school? Why?)

The responses, comments and reactions posted by the netizens were:

∙        from Charlie Gilbaliga: Mas ok ang sa una ma’am. Enhance lang siguro Gamay. Like in terms of innovation courses nga in demand sa industry.

I am a VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE maam an I have been teaching both in formal and informal education set up sugid nasa seminary pa ako until naging missionary ako. I also work as a Prefect of Discipline of one of the best multimedia in the country and the ONLY I think is paperless.

Ang problema natu sa senior high lay nag propolong lang siya sa academic life sa student but in a wider perspective wala man pud nila ma address bisag 70% lang kintahan nga busag senior high daw Maka work na. Maka work nuon but what of work ang E offer and how much salary? Kay ang reality pila na ka generation sa mga may “PRC” ang wla pa sa sulod sa work? Namely Pulis, teachers, nurses and etc.. if wla tay mahatag ng work sa may “PRC” the. What kind of work atong ihatag sa human ug senor high? If Gamay ang sweldo sa may mga “PRC” na how much more. Mga wala PRC?

It’s a person statement ma’am based on experience sa mission lang.

Difficult to discuss in a limited space and time. Hehe. Thank you ma’am Ardy Ines Araneta Batoy

∙        from Ardy Ines Araneta Batoy to Charlie Gilbaliga: I am proud of you and the place you have soared. Carry on.

∙        from Charlie Gilbaliga to Ardy Ines Araneta Batoy: Thank you ma’am . I think it’s time for our academe to look into the demands of the industry lalo n sa colleges and universities. Anu ba in demand nga courses and partner them para may sure na work agad ang students..most colleges kasi more on numbers of graduates lang ang minomonitor, what about for the past 10 years ng graduate nila,.Ilan ba na in place nila na above minimum wage ang sahod? Education kasi is also a business, kapa paramihan lang ng graduates Lal na private, kung public naman baka data gathering lang din. I recommend na benchmark sila sa CIIT COLLEGE OF ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY for the best practices na ginagawa ng school na yan sa curriculum nila and the formation Aspect nila. Always ang Linya ng kanila Pres. We will make sure that bago mag graduate ang student, may work na sila. Not just work but work sa industry. Industry means above minimum wage. Just an information lang. I shared it with some educators here in Bohol. But I don’t know if they are interested in it. With CIIT’s Curriculum I can say, no need for SENIOR HIGH.

∙        fromBetty Jumawid: Yes good na one to six. Then ist year to fourt year. Then colege. Maka save mga parents sa money time n effort.

∙        from Fidel Poligrates Coritico: Dapat. It adds burden of parental economic sufferings. D issue is not lengthening d period of schooling, but quality teaching, save time, avoid wastes, dedicated learning schemes, Santos999!!!

∙        from Yvonne Tria: K12 was PNoy’s blunder. Unsynchronized system change without concomitant improvements in educational facilities and quality of teachers. A plain increase in family expense without the matching skills improvement of students. Bottomline? It’s a waste of resources.
