Tagbilaran City makes history as it officially competes in the Sinulog 2026 Grand Parade under the Sinulog-Based Category today, January 18, in Cebu City.

This marks the city’s first-ever participation in one of the country’s most prestigious cultural and religious festivals.

The city’s participation is a collective undertaking of the City Government of Tagbilaran, with full support from Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, in partnership with Barangay Ubujan led by Punong Barangay Mary Jane Ruiz.

The Tagbilaran City contingent is composed of 400 dedicated members, including 100 dancers, 200 props men, and 100 instrumentalists, all working together to present a synchronized and culturally rooted performance in today’s Sinulog Grand Parade.

Barangay Ubujan is a multi-awarded cultural group, having earned Saulog Tagbilaran Grand Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2025, and placing First Runner-Up in the 2025 Sandugo sa Bohol Festival.

Mayor Jane Yap said the city’s participation in Sinulog 2026 reflects strong collaboration between the city government and grassroots communities.

“This is a shared effort of the city government, our barangays, and our cultural talents. Through devotion to Señor San Jose, our reverence to Señor Santo Niño and our united mission, we bring Tagbilaran’s culture and identity to the national stage,” Mayor Yap said.

As the contingent takes to the streets of Cebu City today, Tagbilaran City carries the prayers and pride of its people, showcasing its faith, heritage, and collective spirit in the Sinulog 2026.
