OFW who tested negative twice is heading home

The overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who is reportedly tested negative in two polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, is heading home according to the Technical Working Group (TWG) on new and emerging diseases spokesman on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, the TWG spokesman, said that he already informed the OFW that he is cleared to go home and to join his family.

Lopez bared the information in a virtual presser produced by the Capitol and live streaming on social media every day.

Also, Lopez said the local government unit of the OFW’s town has been informed about the release of the cleared OFW.

Moreover, Lopez said a clearance will be issued to the cleared OFW. The signatories of the clearance are Lopez and Gov. Arthur Yap.

In the same virtual presser, Lopez said that the various municipal health officers (MHO) of the towns in Bohol met on Thursday for an urgent matter.  In the meeting, it was decided by the MHOs that any cleared OFW need not undergo another quarantine period under the supervision of the OFW’s town government.

On Thursday, too, the provincial government received a list of nine PCR test results.

One of the nine test results is the test result of an OFW. The other results are the tests of the contacts of the OFWs. All test results show that they are all negative.

The cleared OFW is part of the batch of repatriated Boholanos who arrived last April 27, 2020.

The other 63 OFWs who are billeted at the Mercedarian Retreat House, Crabhouse, and Roman Empire resort remain in quarantine as their test results are still pending, Lopez said.
