Department of Health (DoH) Negros Oriental head Dr. Socrates Villamor reveals that the local health office has traced the 10 family members of the Bohol-based doctor from Dumaguete, who tested positive for Covid infection after getting tested in Cebu.

This information was bared in a report of a Dumaguete-based media outlet.

Moreover, the doctor’s wife was included in the 10 family members who were contact traced.

Villamor said all 10 family members are now under home quarantine and will take the necessary tests.

On Wednesday, four of the said 10 family members were tested, the provincial DoH official said.

Villamor also said that the wife’s co-workers were advised to go under quarantine, the media report said.

The Bohol-based doctor arrived in Dumaguete prior to the placement of Negros Oriental under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) last March, a report from a Dumaguete-based media outlet added.

On May 10, the doctor joined two medical technologists from Bohol to Cebu for training, reports reveal.

The training is for the operation of a molecular lab inside the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), the Technical Working Group (TWG) spokesman Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez said.

On May 13, the doctor and the two medical technologists took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test in Cebu, and all of them tested positive for Covid infection, according to reports.

The same reports said that the three persons are now isolated and under 14-day quarantine in Cebu and will be tested anew prior to their return to Bohol after completing the quarantine.
