The Covid positive patient from barangay Dao reportedly has tested negative in the second polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Tagbilaran City First Lady Jane Yap broke the news on Facebook today, Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

In a telephone interview, City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc confirmed the news shared by Yap on Facebook.

However, the 65-year-old female patient from barangay Dao may still have to wait for her homecoming as she needs to stay in an isolation facility managed by the city, Pondoc said.

Pondoc said the patient is unable to return home because the test results of the latter’s close contacts have yet to arrive from Cebu.

The patient took the second swab test last Thursday, June 4, 2020. The result was only known on Wednesday.

Moreover, the patient has been staying at the hospital where she was admitted previously for an ailment, due to the protocol that a Covid positive patient may not leave without a negative PCR result.

Last Thursday, June 5, 2020, Tagbilaran residents were shocked to learn that a resident of Barangay Dao tested positive of Covid infection. As a result, Mayor John Geesnell Yap Ii ordered a lockdown of purok 2, barangay Dao.

Yap said 200 plus contacts of the erstwhile Covid positive patient took swab tests to determine whether or not they too are infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes Covid.
