The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approves on third and final reading the two ordinances authorizing the provincial government to borrow a total of P678 million for the modernization of provincial hospitals and to acquire heavy equipment.
The SP approved the two appropriation ordinances last Tuesday, June 9, 2020 during its regular session.
The ordinances are authored by second district board member Restituto Auxtero. Auxtero is the chairman of the Committee on Appropriations.
The first ordinance allows the provincial government’s executive branch to engage in a P483 million loan for the modernization of the hospital equipment and purchase of heavy equipment.
Provincial hospitals included in the modernization are located in Catigbian, Talibon, Loon, President Carlos P. Garcia, Jagna, Inabanga, Clarin, Carmen, Candijay, and Maribojoc.
Out of the P483 million, about P138,320,000 is earmarked for the infrastructure modernization, while P126,358,620 will be for the medical equipment acquisition, for a total of P264,678,620.
Moreover, the provincial government is planning to acquire 23 heavy equipment with a total budget of P217.7 million.
The second appropriation ordinance that was approved, authorizes the provincial government’s executive branch to borrow P195,169,000 for the modernization of three hospitals and the acquisition of heavy equipment.
It is reported that the Congressman Simeon Torribio Memorial Hospital in Carmen, Congressman Natalio Castillo Memorial Hospital in Loon, and Catigbian District Hospital will be included in the modernization plan.
