Reports say that the Mandaue City Hall of Justice (HOJ) in Cebu province will be placed on lockdown starting today, Monday, June 15, 2020 following the death of a prosecutor due to Covid 19.

Additional reports from CNN Philippines said the prosecutor died on Saturday in a private hospital.

Additional reports said the lockdown of the HOJ, which will include all courts stationed at the Shinebright Building in Tipolo, Mandaue City, will be implemented until June 26, unless earlier lifted, Dadole-Ygnacio, executive judge of the city’s Regional Trial Court said.

The judge said the decision to place HOJ on lockdown came after an employee was confirmed to be infected, too, with SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus causing Covid.

In a memorandum, Ygnacio wrote, “Nevertheless, all Courts, both Regional Trial Courts and Municipal Trial Courts in cities shall continue to operate and may be reached through its hotline, or access it through its email address during the lockdown period.”

Ygnacio added that courts will continue to hear cases via video conference.
