The Inabanga locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who allegedly escaped from the quarantine facility is facing charges, according to Inabanga mayor Josephine Socorro “Roygie” Jumamoy said today, Thursday, July 2, 2020.

Jumamoy, according to same reports, the police are planning to file charges against a certain Rodgelyn Geromo.

Jumamoy said she was told by the police that the LSI “escapee” will be facing charges under the Bayanihan We Heal As One Act, citing disobedience to person in authority and unjust vexation. It was reported that the LSI escaped and subsequently was arrested.

Jumamoy said there is no need to do contact tracing as the escapee did not have any other close contact except her live-in partner who allegedly helped her in the escape.

Reports also say the LSI’s live-in partner, a certain Melchor Bautista, is now in an isolation facility in Inabanga.

According to the same reports, the LSI escaped from the quarantine facility in barangay Nabuad on Thursday, July 1, 2020. She reportedly rode a blue pick-up vehicle as she escaped.

Police conducted a hot pursuit operation and recovered the escapee hours after the reported incident.

Meanwhile, Jumamoy reported, too, that there are 105 LSIs who arrived in the town with one (1) LSI who tested positive for Covid infection.

The mayor said that most of the LSIs in Inabanga originated from Cebu.
