PANGLAO MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS MEET WITH LGU OFFICIALS OVER BACKRIDING RULES. Several motorcycle riders of the Municipality of Panglao gather to a meeting with a couple of heads of offices of the Local Government Unit of Panglao (LGU-Panglao) about the town’s backriding rules.
The meeting transpired Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at the Panglao Cultural Center as arranged by Mayor Leonila Montero, through the close coordination with Danny Reyes, Head of the Office of the Municipal Transportationand Apolinar Fudalan, Officer-in-Charge of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO).
The focus of the meeting was about the issue of the unique “back-riding” policy of LGU-Panglao which provides that instead of using the so-called popular “barrier”, a tool made of acrylic separating the driver and the “backrider”, wearing a full-face helmet for both driver and backrider is already sufficient.
It was discussed further that aside from wearing the full-face helmet, both riders must wear face masks.
A specially designed sticker adhered to the helmets shall be issued to the rider once he has submitted the Orignal Receipt and Certificate of Registration of the Motorcycle he is driving and his Driver’s License at the PESO.
PLt. Amelito Melendres Melloria, the newly-assigned Panglao Police Chief, was also in attendance to ensure compliance of the policy.
