The Social Security System (SSS) is planning to establish more service offices and at least one additional branch office in the province of Bohol.
This development was disclosed by SSS Tagbilaran Acting Branch Head Dioscoro Madanguit during his interview over Open Forum on October 1, 2026.
Madanguit mentioned that aside from the existing Tagbilaran branch and the Talibon service office, the SSS is planning to build new service offices in Tubigon, Carmen, Jagna, and Panglao.
He added that there is also a plan to put up a full branch office in Ubay, and that he is currently negotiating for the spaces where these offices will soon be located.
According to Senior Vice President Maria Belinda San Jose, the expansion is part of the agency’s goal to increase its branch network to 500 offices nationwide by 2028.
Madanguit explained that having more offices will provide better convenience for members and pensioners and will help decongest the lone branch office in Tagbilaran City.
He further mentioned that by law, there should be one branch office per legislative district.
Meanwhile, Madanguit also explained the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP), which is required for all pensioners in order for them to continue receiving their monthly pension.
He clarified that the ACOP is a mechanism to verify the status of a pensioner and to determine fitness to continue receiving the pension.
Under the program, a pensioner must make a personal appearance at the SSS branch anytime within his or her birth month.
However, Madanguit said there is an alternative way to comply with the ACOP for those who are immobile by accomplishing a form and sending a photo showing a latest issue of a newspaper.
Therefore, there is no longer a need for pensioners who are unable to move to personally visit the branch just to comply with the ACOP.
