Around 322 personnel from the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) in Ubay get tested for coronavirus disease (Covid) via polymerase chain reaction (PCR), according to Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (B-IATF) spokesman Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez.
Lopez revealed the information during the virtual presser on Monday, August 10, 2020. The spokesman said that the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and other support personnel were subjected to swab tests, to determine whether or not they are infected with the virus that causes Covid.
He said that the Provincial Health Office deemed it necessary to subject all hospital personnel to a PCR test since some of the hospital personnel have been identified as close contacts of Covid-positive patient.
In the presser, Lopez bared that the collection of swab samples started last Saturday, August 8, 2020 and the collection continued and was concluded on Monday.
He mentioned that the rationale behind the move to subject DEDVMH personnel to the PCR test is based on reports that at there are some Covid-positive patients admitted in the said hospital.
He added that names of personnel from the said hospital have appeared in the contact tracing as close contacts of Covid-positive patients.
The spokesman said that in the event some personnel of DEDVMH test positive for Covid, he will announce it to the public as soon as possible.
