Gov. Arthur Yap reveals that more police and military personnel are being deployed in Malingin and Guindacpan Islands to boost security and to conduct seaborne patrols.

The goveenor made the revelation on Friday, August 28, 2020, during the regular press conference at the Capitol.

He said that 33 police officers and 14 military personnel are deployed in Malingin Island in Bien Unido. On the other hand, about 28 police officers are also deployed in Guindacpan Island in Talibon.

The governor bared that during the weekly regular mayors’ meeting at the Capitol, the need to boost security in the islands was emphasized.

Moreover, the governor, in his report to the media, emphasized the need to deploy a sufficient number of police and military personnel in the islands where there are rising numbers of coronavirus disease (Covid) cases.

Furthermore, he pointed out in the same report, the importance of increased seaborne patrol in the waters off the affected islands.

He added that the Bantay Dagat and Bantay Bayan volunteers should be used for heightened coastal security efforts.

Lastly, Yap also pointed out the need for land-based security units to intercept people who are illegally entering Bohol and arrest those who violate the health and safety protocols.
