Health authorities are looking into conducting surveillance swabbing in islands near the known coronavirus disease (Covid) hot spots.

Gov. Arthur Yap revealed the plan during the recent press conference, on Sept. 4, 2020.

The surveillance swabbing will be conducted in the islands near Malingin Island in Bien Unido and Guindacpan Island in Talibon, he said.

The surveillance swabbing will help determine if the Covid infection has reached neighboring islands of known hotspots.

The governor said a restricted entry policy will be implemented in the affected island once the surveillance swabbing detects a Covid-positive case.

Furthermore, a lockdown on the household where the Covid-positive patient lives will be implemented. The lockdown will also be extended on the Covid patient’s close contacts.

The plan aims to prevent the further spread of the disease in the province, the governor said in the same press conference.

Meanwhile, the governor recognized the effort of the local government units (LGU) of Buenavista and Bien Unido.

He said the two (2) LGUs are able to contain the spread of the Covid virus as there are no recent reports of new cases coming from the two (2) towns located in the northern part of Bohol.
