Telecommunications company Smart Communications announces on its verified Facebook page that the operator of the international trans-Pacific submarine cable system has informed the Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) company that there will be an emergency maintenance activities on the said cable system.

In the same post on the verified Facebook page of Smart Communications on Sept. 23, 2020, the telecommunications company Smart revealed that Asia American Gateway (AAG) company will be undertaking the said emergency activities.

The emergency works on the AAG will start on Sept. 25, 2020, at 8 am Philippine time.

The advisory said the activity will end on Sept. 30, 2020, 5 am, also Philippine time.

AAG is one of the several international cable systems used by PLDT, which is the sister company of Smart under the business group of Manuel V. Pangilinan, the post on the verified Facebook page said.

As a result of the activities, Smart and PLDT are taking steps to minimize the activities’ impact and to ensure that services remain available to PLDT and Smart subscribers.

“We shall provide regular updates as the operation progresses,” the statement added.
