Undefeated Boholano boxer Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo ekes out a split decision win over his Mexican opponent in a 10-round bout on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 (Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, in the Philippines), at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

With the win, Magsayo, who hails from Tagbilaran City, improves his fight record to 21 wins, no loss and no draw, with 14 wins coming by way of
knockout.

On the other hand, Magsayo’s opponent, Rigoberto Hermosillo absorbs his third loss in 15 boxing bouts (11-3-1).

Hermosillo is a late replacement for Jose Hero.

Hero announced his retirement weeks prior to Saturday’s boxing match under the Premier Boxing Championship.

The boxing match was an exciting one as Hermosillo brought the fight to Magsayo with one (1) judge favoring the former as two (2) judges favoring the latter.

The bout is the first one where Magsayo had Boxing Hall of Fame trainer Freddy Roach on his side of the ring.

After the match, Roach said he would love to see Magsayo go up against World Boxing Council featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. in the near future.

However, Roach added that he and Magsayo need to work on their communication especially during bouts.
