It comes not as a surprise that the three (3) Bohol representatives are aligned with the House of Representatives majority bloc under the leadership of the new House speaker Lord Alan Velasco.

In a radio interview on Open Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, First District Rep. Edgar Chatto said that his party decided to throw its support to the new leadership in the House.

Chatto, who belongs to the Liberal Party (LP), decided to throw its support to the leadership of Velasco.

It was rumored that with Chatto aligning with the House majority and by extension, allegedly, he is forging a local coalition with Second District Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado.

It can be remembered that Chatto, supported the incumbent governor Arthur Yap during the 2019 elections, while Aumentado supported former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr.

Chatto said that while he and the two (2) other Bohol congressmen are in the same majority coalition, they remain with their respective parties.

Chatto said that being in the majority bloc does not mean that he is effecting some changes in the local alliances.

He clarified that he still belongs to the local coalition known as Padayon Bol-anon. The local coalition is comprised of members belonging to different political parties.

He denied rumors that the Padayon Bol-anon coalition is breaking up as he and Aumentado have aligned themselves with the new House leadership and the House majority bloc.

Chatto, as mentioned, is with the LP, Yap is with Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos is with National Unity Party (NUP).

On the other hand, Aumentado is a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), while Third District Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor is a member of the Nacionalista Party (NP).

NP is also the party of former House speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.

Moreover, Tutor in a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2020 hosted by The Bohol Tribune managing editor Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Gloria Leodivica Araneta said that her party issued a manifesto of support to Velasco as the party has aligned itself to the majority coalition.
