The province and its tourism hub Panglao are chosen by the National Geographic-Travel as one of the dream destinations which are located in the country.

The feature story in the magazine coincides with the official but gradual reopening of the tourism industry in the province.

The province and in particular Panglao, are identified by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as one of the few areas allowed to operate travel bubbles. One of the facets of the province to be given the privilege to operate a travel bubble is the manner of controlling the spread of the Coronavirus and having an effective contact tracing system.

On Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, Bohol officially reopened the tourism industry although limited to meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions (MICE) events, according to Gov. Arthur Yap.

Aside from Bohol, other sites featured by the National Geographic are Boracay, Palawan, and Baguio.
