Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap reports a sudden surge in the number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in the city with 24 new active cases coming in.

The mayor made the revelation in a Facebook post on Nov. 26, 2020.

He said that there are seven (7) persons found to be infected with Covid which considered to be cases of community transmission.

They are tagged as outgoing persons, the mayor indicated in his report.

Outgoing persons are those who are supposed to leave the province and  subjected to swab tests as part of the travel authority requirement. Most of them are going to Cebu, according to City Health Officer Jeia Pondoc.

Pondoc further revealed that one of the 7 persons earlier reported by the mayor as an outgoing, is not leaving the city. The person was swabbed as part of the requirement prior to a surgical procedure.

The City Health Officer said another person is considered a community transmission case and was swabbed as he/she exhibited influenza-like symptoms.

Moreover, other persons who tested positive for Covid are

*7 locally stranded individuals (LSI)

* three (3) overseas Filipino workers (OFW)

*four (4) authorized persons outside of residence (APOR)

*a returning overseas Filipino (ROF)

* and another patient admitted in a hospital.

All these are statements of the mayor as seen in his Facebook post.

The Covid-positive patients are now isolated as contact tracing activities are being conducted, the mayor added.
