Bohol records 11 new Coronavirus disease (Covid) active cases, bringing the new total of active cases here to 144.

The report was revealed by Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesman of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) in the regular virtual presser on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020. The data is accurate as of 1 pm on Tuesday.

The 11 new results came from the Bohol polymerase chain reaction (PCR) containerized laboratory.

Lopez said that the 11 new active Covid cases are overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and locally stranded individuals (LSI).

Out of the 11 new active Covid cases, five (5) are LSI from Jagna, three (3) are OFW from Jagna, two (2) OFW from Alicia, and one (1) Carmen LSI, Lopez reports.

All of the new active Covid patients are asymptomatic, the spokesman added.

Lopez said out of the 144 active Covid cases in Bohol, 45 active cases are deemed to be community transmission status.

He said that with the number of community transmission cases, it only indicates that the virus is indeed circulating in the various communities in the province.

The spokesman emphasized the need for people to religiously observe the health and safety protocol to avoid contracting the virus which causes Covid.

Based on the observations aired during the Bohol mayors’ emergency meeting on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, Lopez said that the penchant of some people to engage in mass gatherings, such as parties, may have been the reason for the increase of community transmission cases.

Moreover, Lopez reminded the people to avoid non-essential travel to avoid exposure to possible asymptomatic carriers that remain on the loose.
