About 1,760 informal sector workers in Bohol’s first district have benefited from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, which is a livelihood assistance program for workers, according to reports from the Office of Rep. Edgar Chatto’s office.

The office of Rep. Chatto initiated the implementation of the program in the first district towns.

Chatto led in the release of the wages for workers under the TUPAD program. The beneficiaries of the program are workers whose livelihood activities are being affected by the impact of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.

Each worker/beneficiary received wages for community work rendered under the said program.

In the payouts for the latest batch of beneficiaries  which took place just before Christmas Day, Chatto urged the beneficiaries to continue to abide by health protocols to stay safe and healthy.

Moreover, he encouraged all the beneficiaries to use wisely the money they earned through the program for their family’s basic needs and priorities.

Chatto led in the different distribution of wages in the first district.

On Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, beneficiaries of the towns of Albur, Catigbian, Baclayon, Tubigon, Calape, Antequera, Loon, and Maribojoc received their wages.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, payouts were conducted in Corella, Panglao, Dauis, Tagbilaran City, Sikatuna, and Cortes while wage distribution was held in Balilihan on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.

DOLE-Bohol field staff Jans, joined Chatto during the distribution. Others who joined the group were Chatto’s district office chief of staff lawyer Abeleon Damalerio. Ken Requeron and Mer Ebojo.

Furthermore, DOLE for its part said that it is committed to continue upholding its mandate to protect the welfare of every Filipino worker especially during this time.

DOLE also recognized its strong partnership with Chatto in ensuring the effective implementation of the TUPAD program.

The cash for work program is provided under the Bayanihan to Recover As One Act, which is also known as Republic Act 11494.

The program is intended to aid informal sector workers affected by the health crisis, which Chatto strongly backed in Congress.

Meanwhile, another 950 beneficiaries of the program are scheduled to also receive their wages anytime soon, the report from the first district solon bares.
