MIOP participants from Tip-tip, Cogon hurdle program activities with flying colors
The City Government of Tagbilaran reports that the Matrix Intensive Out-Patient Program (MIOP) participants from barangays Tip-tip and Cogon are successful passers of the said rehabilitation program with flying colors.
This comes as the city government also reports that there is a total of 105 individuals who already finished the said rehabilitation program.
The City Media Bureau further reports that 472 individuals are currently engaging MIOP training sessions.
As this developed, City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II recognized the perseverance and dedication that the participants showed while they were undergoing the program.
MIOP is a community-based drug rehabilitation program implemented in all of Tagbilaran City’s barangays to help persons seeking to reform their lives after having been involved with drugs.
The MIOP is a project of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) chaired by Mayor Yap.
Meanwhile, the program is facilitated by Barangay Affairs and Constituency Unit (BACU) head Alvin Acuzar.
The BACU head is busy conducting interventionists’ training, social support group training, revalidation, drug symposia, and random drug testing.
The City police force reported that they seized around P10 million worth of illegal drugs since the campaign against illegal drugs intensified in 2016.
For 2021, CADAC is looking at developing livelihood programs for the MIOP graduates, bench marking sessions to successful Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) participants, soliciting technical and financial support for the various drug intervention programs in the barangays, and synchronization of drug rehabilitation programs, plans, and services between Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and CADAC.

LGU-Tagbilaran hands a brand-new motorcycle to the City Fire Dept.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran City hands a brand-new motorcycle to the City Fire Department as part of the former’s strong support to the latter’s operations.
The turnover of the new motorcycle comes at the heels of the earlier turnover of a new pick-up truck by the LGU to the said fire department in December, 2020.
Acting City Fire Marshal Sr. Insp. Marlyn Macatangay said the new motorcycle will be used for various tasks aimed at ensuring fire-safety in Tagbilaran City.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II for his part said: “We want to ease the work of our frontliners as much as we can. This new motorcycle will at least help the unit in its daily tasks. The City Fire has been one of the major frontliners in our fight against COVID. From disinfection, relief distribution, up to the handling of our (locally stranded individuals) LSIs. Our firefighters are always ready to extend a helping hand.”
Meanwhile, Macatangay recently attended the Sangguniang Panglungsod regular session to discuss the proposed amendment to City Ordinance 293.
The ordinance mandates personnel from large business establishments to undergo a fire safety seminar.
The proposed amendment to the ordinance seeks to require personnel from small and medium enterprises to attend the said fire safety seminar.
The seminar, Macatangay said, will enhance workplace safety as fire accidents may happen anytime and anywhere.
