Tagbilaran City’s City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) is again included in the roster of finalists for the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) award Employment Facilitation Category, a report from the City Media Bureau says.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II congratulated the CSWD for being cited as one of the award’s finalists.

“Indeed your efforts did not go unnoticed. We commend your service and dedication. Also, your efforts during this time of pandemic are also laudable. From the distribution of financial and relief assistance to the marginalized and provision of skills training to the under-privileged, your agency has indeed risen to the challenge”, Yap said.

The CSWD’s response to the impact of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) has been cited and was given recognition by way of landing a finalist’s slot in the GAPAS award.

Citations include, among others, the CSWD‘s assistance to more than 2,000 individuals, including the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who received financial assistance from the said agency through the Aid for Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).

At least 86 displaced individuals also received food packs from the CSWD.

The Social Amelioration Program (SAP) subsidy funds were released to 14,952 individuals distressed by the pandemic and facilitated by the CSWD.

Livelihood assistance was provided to 178 persons who were unemployed, in the form of cash assistance. Around 1,457 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) living alone in Tagbilaran were also given relief packs and cash assistance.

Moreover, pupils in all the 34 day care centers in Tagbilaran were also furnished regularly with learning materials in support of the blended learning modality.

Even with the difficult working arrangements, the CSWD team delivered its mandated services to the people of Tagbilaran.

As this developed, CSWD is already in the final stages of the operations manual for the Paglaum Center, a facility solely dedicated to Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).

A series of trainings to the house parent, staff, and security guard will be conducted this year to jumpstart the full operations of the said facility.

Recently, Mayor Yap turned over a brand-new vehicle to the CSWD to be used by the Persons with Disability Office (PDAO).
