United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Opportunity 2.0 provides the Tagbilaran City Schools Division new laptop units for its eight (8) Mobile Teachers and one (1) Division Alternative Learning System (ALS) Focal Person. The distribution of these laptop units was done during a ceremony on Friday, Mar. 12, 2021.
In a press release sent to The Bohol Tribune, the distribution of laptops is part of Opportunity 2.0’s support in building the capacity of ALS implementers in improving learning modalities, so as to meet the diverse needs of the out-of-school youth (OSY) population in its 12 covered sites, which includes Tagbilaran City.
The new pieces of equipment are expected to aid the city’s ALS implementers in the delivery of instructions to the OSY who are enrolled in the Department of Education’s ALS.
This is in line with the USAID program’s goal to strengthen the capacity of national and local systems to develop, deliver, and monitor the second-chance education programs for our out-of-school youth,” said Opportunity 2.0’s Youth Development Coordinator, Loucille Alcala-Dabhi.
The ceremonial turnover was attended by Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell L. Yap II; Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, Dr. John Ariel A. Lagura; Division ALS Focal, Ms. Rosil-Escolano, and the city’s ALS Mobile Teachers.
Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Casiana Caberte said during the ceremony: “We thank the USAID, the City Government of Tagbilaran and other institutions for the help they extended to the out-of-school youth of Tag bilaran City in order to become productive citizens.”
“May this joint venture of different institutions contribute to the achievement of the goal of this city which is Asenso Pa Morel’ She added.
Opportunity 2.0: Second-chance Opportunities for Out-of-school Youth is a five-year P1.9 billion USAID project that builds on, and advances the ongoing programs and existing education systems of the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the press release added.
