Jagna Mayor Joseph Rañola (inset, upper right corner) announced: “On the 23rd of April 2024, various environmental agencies including the Jagna Bantay Dagat Task Force, DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources), CENRO (Community Environment and Natural Resources Office), MENRO (Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office), and PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) came together to participate in the global observance of Earth Day. This event marked a collective effort to raise awareness and take action towards protecting our planet’s natural resources. One of the highlight activities during this observance was a coastal clean-up led by the dedicated personnel from barangays Nausok and Cantagay. These individuals, along with their counterparts, engaged in the crucial task of cleaning up not just the surface but also the underwater areas of our seas. This underwater clean-up is a testament to their commitment to preserving the marine ecosystem and ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations. This initiative aligns with one of the pioneering programs under the current administration led by Mayor Joseph Rañola and his partner Vice Mayor Teofisto Pagar Jr. Their shared vision emphasizes the resolution of waste management issues, with a focus on finding sustainable solutions to address the challenges posed by pollution and environmental degradation. The participation of these agencies and local government officials underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling environmental issues. By working together and taking concrete actions such as coastal clean-ups and waste management initiatives, communities like Jagna demonstrate their dedication to being stewards of the environment. Earth Day serves as a reminder that every individual and organization plays a vital role in preserving and protecting our planet. Through such global observances and local initiatives, we can inspire positive change and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable world for all.” Contributed photo
