Second district Rep. Erico Aumentado emphasizes the need to develop the water sources first otherwise funds for water projects might go to waste.
In a statement to the media, the solon said waterworks development is not all about providing funds alone. The community must first develop a viable water source first.
Along this line, Aumentado expressed apprehension following the authority granted to Gov. Arthur Yap by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to enter into an agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) for a P2 billion loan where P1 billion is earmarked for waterworks projects for various Bohol towns, learning that four towns have signified interest in availing the funds coming from the loan.
The solon said that he exercises caution when requesting funds from national agencies to be used for waterworks. He added before asking for waterworks budget for the towns in his second district, he insists the identification of the water sources first.
As a result, Aumentado asks the local government units (LGU) to submit a feasibility study and program of work as a prerequisite before the solon moves to request funding from appropriate agencies for waterworks projects.
