Bohol towns are getting a total of P235 million, with each town getting P5 million from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) as facilitated by Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go.

The P235 million budget for all Bohol towns comes from the P13.5 billion allocation of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

Dauis mayor and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Bohol chapter president Marietta Sumaylo reached out to Sen. Go to facilitate Bohol towns’ access to the said LGSF.

According to Sumaylo all Bohol town mayors already submitted a letter of intent to access the fund.

With the development, Sumaylo, on behalf of all 47 town mayors in Bohol expressed deep gratitude to Go for facilitating the access to the said LGSF.

Information showing appreciation to Go could be seen as published on page 12 and page 13 of this Sunday’s edition.

The towns can only use the funds based on the menu of projects indicated by the DBM in its Local Budget Circular No. 131 series of 2021, dated Jan. 8, 2021.

The towns may only use the funds for:

1. Construction, concreting, rehabilitation, repair or improvement of any of the following: a) Local roads and/bridges; b) Public markets; c) Slaughterhouses; d) Multi-purpose building/hall; e) Multi-purpose pavements; f) Drainage canals; g) Sea wall/river wall; h) Water system projects including level 1 stand-alone water points; i) Evacuation centers; j) Public parks; k) Fish ports; and l) Post-harvest facilities composed of ice plant and cold storage facilities;

2. Purchase of ambulance, trucks, mini dump trucks, multi-purpose vehicles, or multicabs;

3.  Street lighting or barangay electrification;

4.  Purchase of medical equipment;

5.  Financial assistance for health and sports program;

6. Assistance programs and projects for education, health and social protection in light of COVID-19; and

7. Assistance to indigent individuals in any of the following forms: a) medical; b) burial; c) transportation; d) food assistance; e) cash for work; and f) educational.

Meanwhile, Sumaylo also thanked Go for the latter’s assistance to the town of Dauis. The beneficiaries are: 

* persons with disability (PWD)

* Coronavirus disease positive patients

* and displaced workers of the said town of Dauis.

She also thanked Go for the Christmas gifts given to members of the barangay council within the municipality of Dauis.
