The success of sea port terminals all over Bohol is a testament to the excellent management of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) under the aegis of the Port Management Office (PMO) with headquarters in Tagbilaran City.
To celebrate the success of the PPA in the last 25 years, according to reports, Department of Transportation (DoTR) Sec. Arthur Tugade and PPA general manager Jay Santiago visited Bohol personally to celebrate the event here in Bohol, early this month.
Bohol ports manager James Gantalao was the one who welcomed the said top officials during the 25th year celebration of the port management agency.
Gantalao said the local PMO gained its autonomy in 1996 following the passage of the PPA board resolution upgrading the Bohol port terminal office to a PMO.
Under the Bohol PMO are the ports of Ubay, Tubigon, Jagna, Loon, Getafe, Talibon and Tagbilaran City, Gantalao told The Bohol Tribune in a telephone interview yesterday, March 27, 2021.
The PMO also maintains 3 sub-ports in barangay Tapal in Ubay, Clarin and in Alburquerque.
He also revealed that the PPA is currently busy working on the expansion of the cruise ship port in Catagbacan in Loon town.
Currently, the local PMO has 80 regular employees, 75 outsourced personnel, 100 security personnel, and 100 cargo handlers.
