STRENGTHENING MARINE PROTECTION ADVOCACY. Inabanga expresses strong support to the strengthening of its marine protection advocacy as a 61.5-kilo Green sea turtle (photo 1) was safely released back into the Inabanga municipal waters on April 8, 2021. It was rescued by John Paul Memoracion (photo 3), a resident of Sto. Rosario, Inabanga, when it was trapped inside a fish cage. The 72 cm. X 67 cm. sea turtle was then brought to the Inabanga Department of Agriculture and Fishery for recording and tagging purposes before it was released (photo 3). A ₱500.00 incentive was given to Memoracion in accordance with the reward system stipulated in teamINABANGA’s municipal ordinance. Mayor Roygie Jumamoy encouraged other Inabangnons to continue saving sea turtles and replicate Memoracion’s good deed to protect Inabanga’s rich marine resources because their mere presence indicated a healthy marine ecosystem.
