Police find no foul play in death of missing fisherman

Police report say they found no evidence of foul play in the death of a fisherman who was reported missing for at least six hours and found dead in Baclayon town.

The fisherman was found dead by the victim’s son on Tuesday afternoon, April 13, 2021, reports say.

Reports said the fisherman was identified as Bernabe Gonzales, 54, a resident of barangay Mayacabac, Dauis.

Reports said Gonzales and his fellow fishermen who were in Baclayon to dock their respective sea craft.

Police said the fisherman’s son narrated that at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the victim went to the shore to gather some sea urchins.

However, the fisherman didn’t return for lunch.

This promoted the victim’s son to look for his father together with other fishermen.

The victim’s son found the lifeless body of his father in a fishpen around 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Baclayon.

The son together with other fishermen retrieved the body and brought it to a funeral parlor.

The family told police that the victim had hypertension.
