GUGMA Tagbilaran, a charitable organization founded by Tagbilaran’s First Lady Jane Yap, intensifies its “love projects” to to the city residents afflicted with Coronavirus disease (Covid) as recently it donated digital thermometers and pulse oximeters, according to a report from the City Media Bureau.

City Health Officer (CHO) Jeia Pondoc said the new pieces of equipment will greatly help the patients in the monitoring of their respective health status.

“Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive and painless test that measures your oxygen saturation level, or the oxygen levels in your blood. It can rapidly detect even small changes in how efficiently oxygen is being carried to the extremities furthest from the heart, including the legs and the arms. So, for those who are experiencing Covid symptoms, this will assist and guide us on what interventions to use”, Dr. Pondoc said.

The pulse oximeter is a small, clip-like device that attaches to a body part, like toes or an earlobe. It’s commonly placed on a finger, and it’s often used in a critical care setting like emergency rooms or hospitals.

GUGMA Tagbilaran volunteers started the distribution of the gadgets Friday, May 7, 2021, to the families affected by Covid.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II in an Facebook post thanked the organization for its donation.

“Thank you GUGMA Tagbilaran led by FL Jane Yap sa pag donate ug digital oximeter and digital thermometer para sa mga na positive og COVID-19 sa Tagbilaran City.Ang pag-monitor sa temperature pinaagi sa digital thermometer, ug ang pag kuha sa oxygen level pinaagi sa oximeter, importante kaayo para mas sayo ma-bantayan”, Mayor Yap said in a post.
