Bohol hosts Interconnectivity Online Forum

Gov. Arthur Yap led the province’s hosting of the Interconnectivity Online Forum, on Monday, July 12, 2021, which seeks to find solutions on how to improve internet connectivity and speed here, a report by the Provincial Information and Media Relations (PRIMER) says on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

The provincial government organized the said online forum that drew representatives from the major telecommunications companies (telcos) which are Smart, Globe and Dito. Department of Information and Communications Technilogy Sec. Gregorio Honasan also participated in the said online forum.

In his message, Yap revealed the state of internet connectivity and speed in Bohol. He also presented the importance of improved internet connectivity as a means to improve the delivery of government services, to improve delivery of lessons to students who are studying via blended learning modality, and for the maintenance of peace and order, disaster response and mitigation among others.

The telco representatives provided information regarding the connectivity rollout in the province with the aim of improving internet speed and connection, the report adds.

In a related development, Provincial Legal Officer (PLO) Nilo Ahat presented a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which includes the agreements forged among the provincial government, telcos, and the local government units (LGU) to help solve internet connectivity woes in Bohol.

Aside from officials from the provincial government other national government agency officials in attendance in the said online forum were Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial director Maria Solidad Balistoy, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provincial director Vina Antopina and Bohol superintendent of schools Dr. Bianito Dagatan.
