Covid-positive Chinese national escapes from isolation, but recovered by Dauis police

A 71-year-old male, Coronavirus disease (Covid)-positive Chinese national escaped from a Dauis isolation facility, but was arrested by Dauis police on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021.

Dauis police station chief Major Gerard Luna told The Bohol Tribune that they already arrested the suspect around 5pm on Thursday at the Totolan Elememtary School where the said Chinese national was placed under quarantine.

Luna said that apparently the suspect already returned to the quarantine facility after going home.

The Dauis police chief said they learned about the escape following a report made by a concerned citizen.

A source told The Bohol Tribune that the suspect was seen roaming around Tagbilaran during the time he was out of the quarantine facility, but this information cannot be verified.

Luna could also not ascertain whether or not the Covid-positive foreigner indeed loitered around the city.

A source inside the Dauis police station said that he is unsure when actually the suspected bolted out from the quarantine facility.

Meanwhile, Luna said the suspect is currently incarcerated at the old jail located in the old Dauis municipal building as charges will be filed tomorrow, Aug. 13, 2021.
