PHO deduces that an undetected Delta variant carrier may have spread virus here

Dr. Yul Lopez of the Provincial Health Office deduced that it is possible that an undetected Delta variant carrier may have brought the virus into Bohol causing the local transmission.

Lopez said this during an exclusive radio interview on Aug. 31, 2021, over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

He said this is the most plausible explanation considering that the Delta variant is imported from outside the Philippines and those who were infected never had travel history outside Bohol.

He insisted that there are five cases of Delta variant attributed to Bohol based on the report of the Philippine Genome Center, which Gov. Arthur Yap received over the weekend.

According to reports, the samples from patients were taken from July 9 to Aug. 9, 2021.

Lopez bared that one of the patients from Tagbilaran is a 77-year-old female and the other patient is a 50-year-old female.

Moreover, the Baclayon patient who tested positive for the Delta variant is a an 85-year-old female, while patient from the town of San Miguel, a 77 -year-old male, who was infected with Delta variant died.

Moreover, Lopez said a 29-year-old male from Loboc, who is a returning overseas Filipino, tested positive for the Delta variant.

All of the patients, except for the one in San Miguel, have recovered from the disease, Lopez said.
