A magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolted Bohol late Tuesday night, Oct. 12, 2021, with the epicenter pinpointed in Sagbayan town, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake occurred at around 11:16 pm on Tuesday, the same Phivolcs report says.

The latest tremor happened two days before the 8th commemoration of the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit the province back in 2013.

The epicenter of the 2013 earthquake was also in Sagbayan town, the Phivolcs bares.

The tremor has a depth of 4 kms. and tectonic of origin. It means that quake was caused by the movement of a nearby fault.

Last Tuesday night’s quake was felt in other areas in Bohol.

Phivolcs revealed the towns of Inabanga, Tubigon, Pilar and Catigbian felt the quake at intensity 4.

Moreover, intensity 3 was felt in the towns of Sikatuna, Loon and Loay.

Furthermore, Phivolcs said that the tremor was felt at intensity 2 in Duero town and Tagbilaran City.

Meanwhile, a 2.4-magnitude earthquake was detected also in Sagbayan at around 2:22 am of Oct. 13, 2021, the Phivolcs reports.
