In observance of the Provincial Children’s Month this November 2021, Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos joins the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) in celebrating the said event by giving attention to child’s rights and welfare, and by being aware of the difficulties experienced by children in the new normal setting.

With the theme, “New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan,” the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) spearheaded the Children’s Congress on November 23 to 26, 2021 at the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) Covered Court.

The four-day event was filled with activities aimed to stimulate advocacy and public information on upholding the child’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation especially during this pandemic.

He called the attention of stakeholders on issues and concerns affecting children.

Accordingly, the celebration is anchored on the universal rights of the child valuing them as an individual and as a member of a family and community, with rights and responsibilities appropriate for their age.

Relampagos, who is fully aware of the rights of the child, has supported the programs that are geared towards their welfare.

As the head of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), Relampagos led in supporting the budget allocation for various programs under the OPSWD, including the

assistance given to abused children.

Furthermore, the vice governor supported the Milk Feeding Program of the PGBh by approving budget allocations for the said activity.

The Milk Feeding Program has distributed fresh milk to thousands of pupils in the different elementary schools in the entire province with the aim to improve their nutrition and health.

Moreover, Relampagos pushed for the distribution of books in some schools in the province to provide an alternative avenue of learning to children who are in the far-flung areas of Bohol.

As our country gradually recovers from the pandemic, Relampagos assures that he will continuously champion the rights and welfare of the children, always believing that they are the hope of the fatherland, as the famous quote says.

Meanwhile, the National Children’s Month Celebration in the month of November has been made official by Republic Act No. 10661, signed by the late President Benigno Aquino III in 2015 to address concerns on the child’s rights.
