The University of Bohol (UB) celebrated its 75th year Founding Anniversary and 51st Charter Day on Dec. 10 to 11, 2021 with various activities to commemorate the milestone.

The University was formerly known as Rafael Palma College (RPC) in 1946.

The two-day celebration of the foundation anniversary and charter day kicked off with a virtual program on Dec. 10, 2021 highlighting the history of the University and its legacy of transforming lives for a great future.

The said virtual program also outlined the 75 significant milestones of UB through the years, the University said.

On Dec. 11, 2021 the University started the 51st Charter Day celebration with the traditional Diana at dawn, followed by a motorcade along the city’s main thoroughfares.

After the motorcade, a fitness Zumba session was participated in by limited number of employees at the UB Paraiso.

Other activities related to the celebration were a spiritual devotional, intellectual and well-being webinar, and the UBianAko competitions and activities, according to information from UB.

Moreover, there was a recognition program for all the University’s retirees.

In the afternoon of the same day, the annual Christmas thanksgiving program among employees took place. Most of the activities were done virtually to observe the existing health protocol.

Furthermore, capping the celebration was the holding of the UBarkadahan Christmas special featuring a live band.

PHLPOST ISSUES UB’S 75TH YEAR COMMEMORATIVE STAMP

In celebration of the 75th year founding anniversary of UB, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, a special commemorative stamp.

The commemorative stamp is the postal corporation’s way of recognizing the University’s long and rich tradition of academic excellence.

Benito Quiros, PHLPost Department manager and Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol III, UB President, unveiled the commemorative stamp souvenir frame. They also signed the first day cover. A first day cover is usually an envelope where the commemorative stamp is attached.

The commemorative stamp shows UB’s main building with the University’s slogan: “Transforming Lives for a Great Future.”

The commemorative stamps are available at P12 at post offices nationwide.
