Gov. Arthur Yap has ordered the suspension of classes in both public and private schools and work in both public and private sector on Dec. 16 and 17, 2021.

The governor issued Executive Order No. 64 on Dec. 15, 2021 ordering the work and class suspensions.

Bohol, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), is placed under signal no. 2 due to typhoon Odette.

The typhoon is expected to hit the province around the evening of Dec. 16, 2021 and expected to bring torrential rains and strong winds,
according to the governor.

Moreover, the regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council issued a storm surge watch threatening low-lying coastal communities due to high waves.

Residents near coastal areas are advised to stay away from coastlines and beaches.

The work and school suspension order provides an opportunity for Boholanos to be with their respective families during the inclement weather event, the governor quipped.

Furthermore, disaster response frontliners shall continue in the performance of their functions.

The governor directed the various Department of Education officials both in the division and district levels to prepare school buildings and facilities to be used as additional evacuation centers.
