Former Bohol Governor now First District Cong. Edgar Chatto said in a recent media interview that the Boholanos’ willingness to help one another especially in times of crisis is key to quick recovery.
“We shall overcome this common challenge together with singleness of purpose and unity in action,” Chatto reiterated during that press conference on Dec. 30, 2021, with Gov. Arthur Yap and Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos. All three have called for unity at this time of the calamity.
“The National Government in coordination with the Provincial Government, the local chief executives as well as private sector leaders including those of the faith-based groups is giving the best of themselves in trying to address the difficulties we are facing today. We urge everyone to unify efforts and be part of the solution,” he continued.
Chatto also appealed to the people to use social and mainstream media as tools for development communication.
“Let us enjoin everyone to avoid fake news and personal attacks against anybody especially at this time of need and in the spirit of Christmas, Chatto added, emphasizing that when one is seeking the truth, one must reach the bearers of fact.
“Contribute constructively to the market of ideas on how we can respond better to the issues at hand. What we need today are people who know how to inspire, motivate and truly help with our strong faith that God will guide us to a better future after typhoon Odette and amidst the Covid-19 pandemic,”
Chatto quipped.
The solon expressed this sentiment as he continues to coordinate with relevant agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Provincial Government, and private sector groups and individuals in the provision of much needed aid to the victims of the typhoon.
Chatto also met with executives of first district local government units (LGU) together with representatives from national agencies to get information about the needs of each town in the said district.
Meanwhile, Chatto took time to visit the first district municipalities and led the turnover of health kits to barangays. He partnered with the Provincial Government in the health kits program, where the towns are provided with medicines for common illnesses.
