V-Gov. Rene L. Relampagos

To enhance the Provincial Government of Bohol’s (PGBh) capacity to mitigate the impact of disasters and risks in the province, Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos led the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bohol in approving a resolution authorizing Gov. Arthur C. Yap to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the City Government of the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, for the latter’s financial assistance.
The financial assistance is in the amount P500,000. The amount is for Bohol’s various disaster risk reduction programs, projects and activities, according to a report.
Dr. Anthony Damalerio, Head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said, the City Government of the Island Garden City of Samal, through its Mayor Al David T. Uy, has expressed intention of extending aid to Bohol for disaster risk mitigation programs.
Damalerio further explained that as part of the necessary documentary requirements by the Island Garden City of Samal before the P500,000 budget gets transferred from the Island Garden City of Samal to the PGBh, a MOA needs to be signed between Bohol and the said city in Mindanao.
Relampagos said the P500,000 donation is a response to the call of Yap for any kind of help from all local, National, and International Government and non-government organizations for those heavily impacted by typhoon Odette.
It can be recalled that Yap has been calling for support for the relief assistance that will be distributed to the affected families in the province.
Furthermore, Relampagos bolstered Yap’s call by passing a resolution that likewiseasked for help from provinces and cities that were not affected by typhoon Odette.
In the MOA, the City Government of the Island Garden City of Samal will transfer a cash donation in the amount of P500,000 to the coffers of the PGBh to be used exclusively for disaster risk reduction purposes.
