Vice Governor Rene Lopez Relampagos and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) approved the proposed Medical Scholarship Program ordinance of the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), according to reports.

The august body approved the measure during its regular session on Feb. 22, 2022.

The said ordinance is primarily aimed to have more Boholano doctors who shall provide basic health care services to Boholanos.

Relampagos expressed elation that the ordinance was finally approved following a series of deliberations and consultations.

As provided in the ordinance, the scholarship program grants a qualified and deserving scholar financial aid to pay tuition and other fees, not exceeding P200,000.00 per semester.

The scholar under the program shall also receive an allowance of P30,000.00 to be used to purchase books, uniform, including board & lodging, and transportation expenses, among others, reports say.

The said program shall also provide financial assistance for the Post-Graduate Internship (PGI) of the scholar in the amount of P25,000.

The scholar shall also receive a one-time financial aid in the amount of P50,000 for the duration of the review and the taking of physician’s licensure examinations.

A scholar, once he/she becomes a doctor, shall render, with pay, service to any hospital or medical facility owned or operated by the PGBh, according to the ordinance.
