Meet the new RDO of BIR in Bohol

The new taxman in Bohol is a woman.

Let us meet the lawyer and certified public accountant – Estrella Bernaldez – the new Revenue District Officer (RDO) of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Bohol.

Yes, she is a lawyer and certified public accountant who rose from the ranks in the BIR.

She is known to be a no-nonesense leader and a committed public servant.

She was the Commissioner’s Awardee as TOP CASE OFFICER of Region 13 on STOP FILER CASES for the entire year of 2004 up to June 30, 2005. It proves her mettle in ensuring the government collects the right amount of taxes.

RDO Bernaldez is married to a Boholano, Atty. Joseph Udtohan Bernaldez and they have three sons, two of whom are lawyers, the youngest is in San Beda Law School.

Her daughter in law, Rei La Bernaldez is also a lawyer and works as Clerk of Court in Regional Trial Court, Mandaue City

The new RDO has two grandchildren Ragnar Joseph Bernaldez and Thaleia Harmony Bernaldez

According to information obtained by The Bohol Tribune, she has travelled to US, Europe and the Baltic States, United Kingdom and countries in Asia.

Her principle as a public official is “to pursue your goals, always mindful that your actions have factual and legal bases, that way, you will always be confident in the direction that you have taken.”

Her message to the taxpaying public in Bohol: “Please pay your correct taxes on time, as your contribution to nation building.”

“Taxes are the lifeblood of the country and no country can survive without taxes. To the taxpaying public in Bohol, I appeal to you to pay the correct taxes on time,” she added.

BBM camp releases info on platform

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FERDINAND “BONGBONG” MARCOS JR.

The camp of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has released some information about his platform of government.

The information was provided to The Bohol Tribune by the One Bohol BBM-SARA grand alliance which is led by its president Cylwin Bomediano.

The platform is anchored on five pillars: jobs, infrastructure, agriculture, industrialization and education.

In the first
part of the article, the focus is on the areas of tourism, socioeconomic development, and climate change

TOURISM

Marcos Jr. said he will give special focus on tourism, as he acknowledges the solid contribution of this sector to the national economy.

He will promote domestic tourism to strengthen the industry. There is a need to balance tourism and environmental protection. As pushes for tourism development.

SOCIOECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Marcos Jr. will be providing adequate shelter for indigents and to provide basic needs such as food, water, power, education and livelihood opportunities among others via urban housing projects. He is going to prioritize human basic needs.

At the same time he will continue the National Task Force-Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and the Balik Loob program of President Duterte, to help rebels reintegrate to mainstream society.

He is proposing that the mandatory retirement shall be removed so that those who are still able to work will still have the opportunity to earn and make a living.

He is going to focus on the war on drugs just like Duterte.

CLIMATE CHANGE

On climate change, as the Philippines is among the countries most affected by climate change, he is going to support mitigation and climate change resilency programs. He is going to protect the country from climate change by protecting the environment and promote sustainable development.

Next week, the focus will
be on other key areas of the Marcos Jr.’s platform of goverment such as industrialization, healthcare, and education among others.
