Tagbilaran City launched Saulog 2022 with activities highlighted by a program at the Tagbilaran Friendship Park at barangay Bool on Mar. 16, 2022, according to the City Media Bureau.

This year’s Saulog festivities focus on the celebration of faith and thanksgiving.

The event on March 16, 2022 was a face-to-face activity considering the fact that the city recorded zero Covid cases as of Mar. 15, 2022.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II said this year’s celebration is quite sentimental, for it is a testament of how resilient Boholanos, particularly Tagbilaranons, are.

“We have been confronted with a lot these past two years. But our faith in God helped us to focus on what’s important. We moved on despite the difficulties. This year’s Saulog’s celebration will leverage on those values that made us overcomers, our faith in God, kindness, love for family, and hope,” Mayor Yap said.

Mayor Yap led the wreath laying and floral dedication for the 457th Blood Compact Anniversary, along with First Lady Jane Cajes, Tagbilaran Bishop Alberto Uy, Congressman Edgar Chatto, and Vice-Governor Rene Relampagos.

This activity was immediately followed by a performance from Lungsoranon Performing Arts Ensemble (LUPAE) which reenacted the Blood Compact event between Rajah Sikatuna and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and danced to the tune of Saulog jingle.

Prior to the launch, Bishop Uy officiated the blessing of the Senior San Jose image at the Causeway in barangay Poblacion 1.

Saulog Tagbilaran 2022 will have blended activities by mixing face-to-face events with virtual engagements.

The schedules for the various activities are published online via the Saulog Facebook Page, which include Saulog Chess Tournament on March 19 and 20, 2022 at the Island City Mall Activity Center; Saulog Tennis Cup on March 19, 25, 26, 27, 29 and April 1, 2, and 3, 2022 at the CPG Sports Complex Tennis Court; Saulog Diocesan Tennis Cup on March 22, 2022 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS) Tennis Court in Brgy.
